Acerola, pineapple, beetroot, ginger and turmeric booster shot

The winds are howling, the rain is falling and everyone seems to be getting a ill. It's flu season, and it's time to be extra mindful to get the right amount of vitamins.  

This shot helps you getting all the vitamins you need to boost your immunity. It combines Beetroot – one of the most potent antioxidant vegetables – with vitamin-C-heavyweight Acerola, antioxidant-rich Pineapple, throat-saver ginger and immune-system-boosting turmeric.

This mix can be a bit spicy, we recommend it as a shot instead of a whole smoothie – you can keep serve it to your family or flatmates, for even keep it in the fridge to consume it over two or three days.  And you can always dilute it with more pineapple juice or another sweeter fruit of your choice like Mango or Guava

You can also substitute the freshly grated ginger for about 20ml of a ginger shot, sold in most health stores and supermarkets – look for the ones low in sugar!

Preparation

Unfreeze the acerola and pineapple pulps (you can leave them in your fridge the night before). Mix all the ingredients in a blender and pass them through a fine mesh strainer to remove the ginger, turmeric and beetroot solids. Reserve the mix in a bottle or airtight container. Enjoy it as a 50ml shot twice a day, before going out in the cold and before going to bed, and save the rest for the next days.
