If you ever want a quick breakfast smoothie to have on the go that will not leave you hungry after 20 minutes, look no further than to what people in Brazil call “vitamins”. These are usually as simple as it gets - you blend one or more fruits and milk or a milk substitute.

Cajá provides several nutrients that are important for the proper functioning of our body. The list includes: carbohydrates, calcium, iron, phosphorus, vitamin A, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B3, and vitamin C. Research conducted by scientists at the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ) in 2011 classified the antioxidant activity of the fruit as above average. This is relevant because antioxidants are important in fighting free radicals, compounds that are harmful to the body's health and are associated with the development of serious diseases such as cancer and premature aging. Add to this the very well-known benefits of orange juice - even more vitamin C, benefits to skin and eyes, prevention of kidney stones… the list goes on and on.

So, this is a refreshing and filling Smoothie that is packed with vitamins we need to keep our skin looking great and our immune system tip-top. What else do we need to tell you?


For 1x 400ml smoothie:

  • 1x Tropix Cajá
  • 100ml orange juice
  • 200ml milk or milk substitute
  • 1 teaspoon brown or muscovado sugar


Run the pulp pack under warm water for a few seconds. This helps soften the pulp just enough so that it’s a little easier to slip out of its packaging. Combine pulp, orange juice, milk and sugar in a blender and pulse until you get the desired consistency. Serve with a few ice cubes.
